Laundry Room... Check.

One room done.... and I have the rest of the house to go. It's a start though!

I started... and finished with the laundry room. IT TOOK ALL DAY! My mom came over and helped me out by watching Camron. I couldn't have done it without her... so thanks mom! I took some pictures of what it looks like now. I really wish I had taken some "before" pictures to compare the "after" pictures with. Just know that this is a HUGE improvement!!

This used to have clothes and other junk piled as high as these boxes! These boxes are the beginning of our packing... As I pack up more stuff around the house they'll be stacked up with these.
I know this may look messy to some, but these shelves used to be piled high with empty detergent bottles, trash and other random stuff.... Just trust me that it's a huge improvement!

Now that our laundry room is done I'm moving on to my next challenge! Next I will tackle the downstairs bathroom and the 2 downstairs hall closets.... Here's the "before" of the one that will be most challenging: (This is supposed to be our linen closet btw. LOL.)

Cleaning and Organizing My Life

I'm adding another goal for myself in 2008.
This is the year I'm going to clean up and get organized!

I woke up this morning with the overwhelming feeling that I need to go through all of my closets & rooms (there's 6 closets in this house!), throw out the old stuff and organize everything else!! I think the reason behind this feeling is that I realized just how soon we'll be leaving my hometown... As of today we only have about 3 and a half months left before we'll be leaving! That's only 3 and a half months we have before everything will need to be packed up in to moving vans and sent on it's way to our new home.

Here's how I'll get my life cleaned up and organized:

• Living Room: Clean up the desk area - throw out/shred old bills, ads etc. Get rid of anything that hasn't been used in the last 6 months... including Cam's toys. (He has way too many!)
• Kitchen: Go through cupboards and get rid of any dishes that haven't been used in over a year. (We have 2 sets of drinking glasses and one we NEVER use.) Get rid of all of Camron's old bottles/bottles & cups he never used.
• Both Bathrooms: Throw out any old shampoos/conditioners/lotions/make-up. Get rid of old curling irons, hair clips.
• Master Bedroom: Get rid of old clothes/clothes that don't fit. Get rid of purses I will never use again. Get rid of books that haven't been touched in ages.
• Camron's Room: Pack away all old clothes in his closet. Get rid of all old toys he doesn't play with. Pack away old receiving blankets/baby towels/thick baby blankets/burp cloths.
• Up stairs hall closet: Get rid of any old craft stuff I never plan to use. Organize the stuff I'm keeping.
• Downstairs closets: Get rid of old shoes/coats/uniforms. Get rid of anything else no longer in use. Organize everything!
• Laundry Room: Get rid of everything in there that we no longer use - including the box that sits in the corner and everything on the shelves!
• Pantry: same as laundry room. Organize the boxes that are down there.
• THEN TAKE EVERYTHING THAT'S STILL GOOD TO THE SALVATION ARMY!!

Now I just need to get started. All of this will probably take me about a month to accomplish. Sorry for the really boring post... Just like with the weight loss goal I needed to type everything out, otherwise I'll just keep feeling overwhelmed and nothing will get done...
